Facing the New Age of Studies: Article Writing and Blogging

Updated: Dec 15, 2021

There are a lot of articles and blogs about basically how to write articles and blogs. These articles have detailed ways and shared tips and tricks on how to write your own articles and blogs and even shared information that you can earn from it. With this, many people from all over the world are learning how to properly write articles and blogs and ensuring that they follow the steps and outlines to make it better. Some sites are presented and shared where you can post and share your articles and blogs for public reading and there are also some sites that offers you a few bucks to share your articles and blogs and can make you earn more through views and comments.

Here, I am not going to share tips or tricks or anything sassy and classy about writing articles and blogging. I just want you to ask these questions to yourselves.

“So what makes an article and a blog good to read? Is it the pattern, the idea, the grammar, pictures, or is it catchy [to bait readers to reading your articles], or is it of their interests, or is it aligned to their needs at the moment, or is it basically what they want to know?”

Have you noticed something in the questions above? Yes, the “them” and “they.” Now why did I want you to notice it? One of the tips I read about in writing articles and blogs is “to find the current trends, ideas, information that can catch the interests of other readers.” But I am really sorry to break it out to you but this is the type of trick where most writers fail. Of course you know yourself and what your skills are and what you are capable of writing. You may even have taken courses for writing and may have mastered the pattern, using the current trend, good grammar, and sure you know you can make catchy titles that will catch the interest of the readers. But for some reason you find yourself struggling to get the readers’ attention and to get a few minutes of their time to read your articles and blogs. I am one of the many who struggled in making people to even just take a peek at to what I have to say about a specific idea. And yes I am also one of the people who wants to at least earn from my shared ideas. But then I realized this 2 types of thinking and mindset are the main reasons why some of us fail.

Let me go into details of it:

- The “them” and “they”

- The intention of income generating

The “them” and “they”

We often think about what is interesting for others and what current trends and ideas that are pulling people into its bubble and linger there for hours and even days. We tend to wonder and imagine even assume what people are thinking and reacting towards something new. We also assume things that can draw their attention or how they respond based on what they have encountered. We also consider their experiences and views. Their interpretations and perspectives, too. But what about “YOU?” Have you thought about what interests you? Your opinions on current trends, response to new things and encounters, your experiences, interpretations and perspectives? To be exact, have you thought about “yourself” in writing and blogging? Or are you just shy to talk about yourself? We really don’t need to talk about ourselves personally though I am referring to our own ideas, opinions, interpretations, perspectives, experiences, and many more. I have observed in some articles I have read that people who wrote them are all based on their own and I mean their “OWN.” Although there are articles and blogs written for the sake of talking about an idea which in my case is pretty obvious to identify since the feeling is like it is too good to be true. And mostly written in third person rather than in second person [which is more personal for me]. I don’t have statistical basis regarding which article or blogs are mostly read: the personalized or the professionalized one. I came to assume that more articles and blogs that has more personal touches are more read than the others. I can be proven wrong though. But at some point if we make it more personalized, everyone would agree that it is much more interesting to read.

The Intention of Income Generation

Of course we also wanted to get paid for our ideas especially if a client offered to pay us to write something about a specific topic. In cases where we needed to have an idea of what we are going to write about, we often go to search engines and find what the topic means and if this topic already is existing online [in media even]. If it is existing already, the challenge would be how are we to make it more interesting for our client’s readers and more importantly to the one who is going to pay us for it. Some writers will go to the extent of researching for more information and ideas. While this method is advisable, it may cause the writers to overthink and may at times overdo their articles [which is not that bad]. Sometimes writers when they overdo it, the articles and the blogs becomes a little bit more tiring to read. Like it is taking the reader a long time to really understand the point of the articles or taking too long to get to exactly what the writer is really saying. Anyway, it is going to be either you get the point they want or not get it at all. What happens here is that the one who hired you to write may decline it and you are not paid or get paid for the sake of the work done but your articles and/or blogs will not be published and read at all. One thing is, if you write for others, you might want to consider their interests and thoughts as well. You might want to think about your own personal adjustment before writing for others which I believe to be what makes writing for others. You are writing for them, not for you. It is not that bad though and if you can pull it off, that would be beneficial for you and to the one you are writing for. But if it is not “you” to write for others, you may want to consider this before writing for others.

Freeing Yourself

Set yourself free!! If you are the type who believes and has the ability to perceive things far more differently than others then writing for yourself would be more productive for you. You get to express yourself better in your writing and readers would know that it is you who wrote it. I think this is also the reason why some people are able to write books and novels of their own. They can share their thoughts more and interpretations better than relying on a lot of resources out there. Being able to make and create something of your own makes it even more interesting. People love new things and they are by nature, are excited to learn more about what’s new to the table. If you know for yourself that you can write something that excites you and will excite others, set yourself free and write about it. If in any cases you don’t know how to start it, take note of these tips:

  1. Open any document you use or have a pen and a paper with you.

  2. Write what comes first in your mind.

  3. Write some keywords you would want to include in your article.

  4. Write what others think about it (maybe do a little online research and reading) and compare it to what you think about it.

  5. Don’t think about writing in patterns first (you can research about it or have someone to help you) just write anything that comes to your mind.

  6. You can brainstorm with your own ideas (sometimes taking a moment to discuss with yourself can help).

  7. Write whatever new ideas you encounter (and I mean whatever).

  8. Go over notes and think about titles you can use for your article

  9. Be patient (one of a kind articles are the ones that you have worked hard in writing about)

  10. Enjoy your own ideas, thoughts, interpretations, and opinions. Don’t be shy to write about it. If you want to share it with other people, go ahead and upload it

  11. Lastly, be open to negative and positive comments and reactions (we all have differences in our ideals and interpretations and use to enhance your own personal continuous learning process)

We all are free to express what we want and where ever we want it. We just have to make sure that what we can stand for it. What I mean is, we must face any challenges that we might encounter after sharing our blogs and articles.

A lot of book authors are brave enough to publish their books for the sake of awareness and eye opening topics. We must be brave enough to. Although, take extra care about topics that we are writing about. Write freely and express yourself to the best you can, but be brave and face anything that comes after it.
